About Marcus Henry
Born and raised in New Castle County, Marcus is a graduate of Saint Mark’s High School. He received his Bachelor’s degree at Howard University, and his Master’s of Public Administration from the University of Delaware. While attending classes at UD, he met and fell in love with his future wife, Diliana. Today, Marcus, Diliana, and their two children, Gabriella and Alex, live in Wilmington.
Marcus’s mother is Senator Margaret Rose Henry, the first African-American woman to join the Delaware State Senate and who went on to be re-elected seven times. By the example she set championing causes for families, schools, seniors, and equal justice, Margaret Rose ensured that Marcus and his brother, John, learned early about the value of giving back to their community.
Marcus has over 20 years of experience in public service at both state and county levels. He is known for his collaborative and common-sense leadership that effects change, inspires action, and gets things done.
Whether it’s helping to reinvigorate neighborhoods with improved affordable housing, overseeing the site selection and creation of three new libraries, or guiding the Hope Center to become a life-changing reality for unhoused individuals, Marcus is unwavering in his dedication to improving New Castle County. He is always striving to make our County a place where everyone is proud to live, work, or raise a family.
Marcus will bring unparalleled experience, vision, and passion to the role of County Executive. He sees great potential and opportunities for the future of New Castle County and will lead his Administration to work diligently every day to listen to and respond to the needs of each and every resident.
